Things began badly Friday night for the Richmond Lady Spartans at Holden. The unbeaten Lady Eagles came out and immediately put the pressure on Richmond in the MRVC East contest. The Lady Spartans not only fell behind early, but lost one of their leading scorers and rebounders for the game when McKenzie McBee went down with an injury in the first minute. However, to their credit, the Lady Spartans would not go away quietly, in a 54-42 setback.

The loss dropped Richmond to 0-3 in the league and 1-8 overall, while Holden improved to 7-0, including a 3-0 mark in conference action.

“Losing McKenzie was tough, but I was extremely proud of how the girls fought their tails off,” RHS coach Brandon Quick said.
