Gale Jeanne McCarter

Gale Jeanne McCarter, 74, of Richmond, went to be with her Heavenly Father Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gale was born March 2, 1943, in Hardin, to Robert and Betty Jeanne (Wilson) Ford, and was raised by her grandparents, Roy and Eva Wilson. She married Jerry Don McCarter, of Richmond onMay 21, 1983; he survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Bryan (Torey) Wall, of St. Louis, Shawn (Melissa) Wall, of Charles City, Va. and Michael Shay (Tracy) Branstuder, of Blue Springs; two stepsons, Nathan (Wendy) McCarter, of Springfield, and Mark (Joni) McCarter, of Jefferson City; one stepdaughter, Emily Lynn Hicks, of Jefferson City; two brothers, Wayne (Eileen) Strider, of Kansas City, Mo., and Greg Strider; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren with two on the way.

In addition to her parents, Gale was preceded in death by her grandparents and one brother, Gary Wilson.

Gale was a homemaker and had a successful career in the banking industry. She was happiest spending time with her family, baking her famous homemade pies and traveling with her her beloved best friends. Gale was a member of the United Christian Presbyterian Church in Richmond.

Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, at United Christian Presbyterian Church, Richmond. A P.E.O. service will be at 12:45 p.m. at the church. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 2 p.m. at the church. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Online condolences may be left at
