Jeremiah 20: Climbing above discouragement

Discouragement is part of life. Discouragement comes when you do the right things but experience poor results. It makes you want to quit, saying things you shouldn’t say, getting angry at God. That’s how Jeremiah felt.

God called Jeremiah to speak to a rebellious people. He obeyed, but on one occasion, Jeremiah was so angered at the assistant to the high priest, Pashur, that Pashur arrested Jeremiah, beat him and threw him in jail. Jeremiah was a man in deep distress. He endured physical, emotional and spiritual torment. Jeremiah walked into deep discouragement, all for doing God’s will.

Like Jesus, Jeremiah reminds us that even a faithful servant of God can become discouraged. Jeremiah climbed above his discouragement and fulfilled God’s will. You, too, can climb above discouragement. Here’s how.
