Thousands raised at local 2017 Relay for Life

Ray and Lafayette counties combine to increase efforts

Every year a Relay for Life walk takes place in Ray County and in Lafayette County. This past year, the two counties combined efforts creating a larger fight against the disease of breast cancer through the two counties joining in the six hour walk raise funds to donate to the American Cancer Society.

The walk took place June 10 at Richmond High School track.

“More than $26,600 was raised to support the American Cancer Society’s mission of saving lives from cancer,” said Erin Elliott, community development manager, north region of the American Cancer Society.
