Sharon Irene Parker

Sharon Irene Parker, 74, of Richmond, was born, Jan. 15, 1943, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Francis Joseph and Eva Mildred (Scott) Riddell.  She departed this life Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017, at the Shirkey Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, surrounded with love and family.

She was united in marriage to Charles Garland Parker II, July 20, 1964, in Liberty.  He preceded her in death Nov. 8, 2011.

Sharon had been employed as cashier for Angel’s Hardware Store while living in California. She later worked for the Higginsville Habilitation Center in Higginsville and was noted for bringing home residents who didn’t have family for Christmas dinner.  She enjoyed putting together puzzles, knitting and sitting outside enjoying her flowers.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Sharon was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by six children, Teri (Bill) Goforth, of Bloomfield, N.M., Sherry Parker, of Highland, Calif., Dawn Brigandi, of Bloomfield, N.M., Chuck (Jill) Parker III, of Pleasant Hill, Jason Loza, of Independence, and Justin Loza, of Columbia; two brothers, Richard (Sherry) Riddell, of Independence, Larry (Paula) Riddell, of Kansas City, Mo., Mary (Mark) Burke, and Nancy (Bruce) Stockton, both of Richmond; 12 grandchildren, Amber, Andrew, Charles, Jackie, Jessica, Jimmy, Joey, Justin, Mark, Michael, Robert, Tami and Tiffany; numerous great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

The family would to like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff at the Shirkey Nursing & Rehabilitation Center and Shirkey Hospice & Palliative Care for their kind and compassionate care.

Graveside funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery, Richmond.  Reverend Bill Purcell from Shirkey Hospice & Palliative Care will officiate. Casket bearers are Jimmy Brigandi, Michael Brigandi, Jason Loza, Justin Loza, Charles Parker IV, Dennis Parker, Larry Riddell and Richard Riddell.  Honorary casket bearer is Justin Laning.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Shirkey Hospice & Palliative Care and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
