Powerful winds, rain pound region Saturday

A strong storm blew through western Missouri, including Ray County, Saturday evening.

Winds of at least 50 mph hit Richmond at about 6 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Various rain gauge reports around town indicated the area received about 2 inches of rain in less than an hour. Flash flooding made travel precarious on some city roads.

Several trees and tree branches fell during the storm, some onto vehicles and utility lines.
