Nancy Mae McGinnis

Nancy Mae McGinnis, 73, of Richmond, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2017, at K.U. Medical Center, Kansas City, Kan.

Nancy was born July 9, 1944, in Aitchison, Kan., to Lindsey Van Rue and Elsie A. (Basque) Bowman. She married William Lesley “Bill” McGinnis, of Henrietta, July 16, 1960.  He preceded her in death Jan. 19, 2014.

Survivors include: three daughters and their husbands, Debra L. and Bob Worsley, of Kingsville, Ronda K. and Donald Smith, of Chula, and Jennetta A. and Darrel Anderson, of Richmond; one brother and sister-in-law, Arthur Van and Jennifer Bowman, of St. Joseph; one sister, Mary Mace, of Skidmore; 12 grandchildren, Tiffany Swift, and her husband, Daniel, Dana Swift, and her husband, Matt, John Smith, and his wife, Cherri, Justin Smith, and his companion, Casey Both, Shannon Worsley, and her companion, Hugh Graham, Scott Brown, and his companion, Courtney Small, Jason Smith, April Smith, Dylan Brown, Maria Anderson, Stephanie Anderson and Maci Anderson; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to her parents and husband, Nancy was preceded in death by five brothers, Arthur Bowman, Harold C. Bowman, Danny Duane Bowman and two who died in infancy.

Nancy worked as a machine operator for Stride Rite in Hamilton, before retiring in 1992.  Nancy and Bill also owned and operated B&N restaurant in Jamesport for several years.   They lived in Jamesport for 22 years before moving to the Richmond area in 2011.  Nancy was a Jehovah Witness.  She especially loved her family and all her grandchildren.  She also loved and enjoyed her friends from the Amish Community and her Jehovah Witness brothers and sisters.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.

A memorial service for Nancy will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday November 4, 2017 in the community center at the Ray County Library in Richmond.  There will be a time for fellowship following the service until 4:00 p.m.  Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond is in charge of these arrangements.
