Mammograms: ‘Don’t put it off’

I don’t know any woman who enjoys a mammogram, but it’s a preventive screening that can save your life.

It’s important to be done yearly once a woman is at a certain age, and it’s important to perform self-examinations.

Local women do not have to travel out of the county to get a mammogram. Ray County Memorial Hospital has a digital mammography machine with two friendly mammography technicians, Nikki Garber and Marcia Judd.

“It’s very important to have a mammogram every year,” Garber said. “Be sure to stay on top of your health. If there’s any slight change (in your breast) at all, you catch it early.”
