Harry Caulfield

Harry Caulfield, 91, of Independence, died on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Mo.

Harry was born Aug. 2, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., to Lloyd Roth and Emma Mary (Williams) Caulfield.

Survivors include: nephews, George Lacey Barnett, of Independence, and Harry Russell “Rusty” Barnett, and his wife, Beth, of Richmond, W.V.; great-nephews, Ryan Burke, John Barnett, Gary Barnett, Michael Barnett and Steven Biesenberger; nieces, Marguerite Ellen “Peggy” Treese, of Kansas City, Mo., and Kathryn Ann Rankin, and her husband, Thomas, of Denver, Colo.; great-nieces, Dina Blackmore, Brandy Barnett, Janelle Biesenberger, Deidra Burke, Brandy Walby, Sasha Burke, Danielle Medina, Iona McCormick, Patricia Bland, April McIntyre, Lacey Barnett and Lori Barnett; and several great-great-nephews and great-great nieces.

In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by one brother, George Caulfield; one sister, Dorothy Barnett; and three nephews, John Barnett Jr., James “Jimmy” Barnett and Gary Barnett.

Harry worked as a sanitation engineer for M&M Trash Service, Kansas City, Mo. He was of the Baptist faith. He lived most of his life in the Kansas City area. He didn’t have children of his own but he was like a father to many. Harry loved the Royals, enjoyed company and eating. He was known to be ornery and a tad bit sarcastic.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.

Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond.  Graveside services follow at 2 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery, Richmond. Online condolences may be left at
