Dorothy Fern Jelinek

Dorothy Fern Jelinek, 99, of Richmond, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Dorothy was born on May 5, 1918, in Ray County to Thomas and Mabel (Todd) Ogg. She married Louis Jelinek of Richmond Aug. 4, 1940. He preceded her in death March 15, 1999.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Rex and Patricia Jelinek of Richmond; two daughters, Kay Sharp of Richmond and Sharon Harrison of Santa Fe, NM; six grandchildren and their spouses, Renea and Tom Williams, Sarah and Mick Fouts, Jeremy Danner, Scott and Lisa Harrison, Carolyn Harrison and Windsor Jelinek; five great-grandchildren, Samantha Williams, Denton Williams, Chase Fouts, Rylie Fouts and Dillon Fouts; two half-brothers, Ernest Ogg and Curtis Ogg; and two half- sisters, Shirley Shore and Joyce James.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Henry and Jean Patterson

Dorothy was a homemaker. She was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church. She was a lifelong Ray County resident. Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress and a quilter.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Special Olympics.

Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at
