Mary Lou Koch

Mary Lou Koch, 78, of Richmond, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born Jan. 17, 1939, in Orrick, to William Wickstrom and Evelyn (Rimmer) Clevenger. She married Douglas A. Koch, of Raytown, June 14, 1963; he survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Michael Koch, of Richmond, and Robert W. Hoover, of Raytown; two daughters, Marilyn O’Dell, of Richmond, and Denna Casey, of Richmond; 15 grandchildren, Michaela Koch, Michael Koch, Aaron O’Dell, Derek O’Dell, Skylar O’Dell, Dustin Hash, Daniel Hash, Delaney Sandstrom, Bobby Hoover II, Sylvia Hoover, Karissa Hoover, Nathan Hoover, Ashley Hoover, Talia Hoover and Mark Hoover; and 27 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by three sisters, Joni Olsen, Judy White and one in infancy.

Mary lived in Raytown and Independence before moving to Richmond in 1974. She worked for Waller Trucking Company in Richmond for 15 years. She later worked for the State School Rehabilitation Center in Higginsville until she retired in 2004. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Richmond. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother. She especially loved the holidays with all her family and grandbabies. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved flowers.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Visitation is 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 28, at the First Baptist Church of Richmond. Memorial services follow at 7 p.m. at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date. Online condolences may be left at
