After having its string of conference championships snapped at 11 last fall, Higginsville’s 7-2 win at Richmond Tuesday gave the Lady Huskers their 12th MRVC East tennis title in the past 13 seasons. Richmond, now 2-6 in league play and 3-7 overall, picked up its two lone wins at Maurice Roberts Park Tuesday in singles play and coach Duane Bastob said his team gave a good effort against the league’s best.

“They won the conference and they deserved it,” he said. “They are the most complete team we play, but I’m proud of our efforts tonight. We competed well.”

The Richmond victories came in singles play.
