How to cast your pains on the Lord; Psalms 55:22

By Rev. BarBara Harper/Pastor, Ward Chapel AME

Last week, I attended the 10 Session of the Midwest Annual Conference. I was in pain every day; my knee was hurting. I was very uncomfortable, but I didn’t complain, I just kept on praising God.

What Are Burdens (Pains)? We know what pains feel like. They make you miserable and uncomfortable. So, what causes this? It’s usually because you see something painful in your future. And that future pain is a fear. But the Bible reads, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear.”

What are your own pains? Maybe it’s your knee, like my or another body part. Are you feeling fearful? If so, identify what pain you are fearing, because there is Good News, David tells us to, “Cast your burden (pains) on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved.” Whenever you are in pain, God promises to sustain us and not let us be moved (worried with fear).
