Cecil LeRoy Starcher

Cecil LeRoy Starcher, 84, of Richmond, died Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017, at his home.

Cecil was born Sept. 30, 1932, in Ray County, to Della Cecil and Willa Lavena (Davis) Starcher. He married Betty Colleen Huey, of Richmond on June 10, 1956; she survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: two daughters and two sons-in-law, Penny and Tim Hendrix, of Richmond, and Leslie and James Forand, of Stafford, Va.; one sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Frank Gooch, of Sedalia; six grandchildren, Alexandria Forand, Danielle Forand, Triana Forand, Derek Compton (Danielle), Kellen Hendrix (Amber), Kent Hendrix (Kaylynn Crowder); four great-grandchildren, Jace and Maddox Compton, Dryden and Daxton Hendrix; and son-in-law, Terry Compton, of Richmond.

In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Compton; one brother, Lyndall Starcher; and one sister, Norman Jean Starcher.

Cecil was a Richmond High School graduate. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was owner and operator of Cecil’s Plumbing in Richmond, he worked for 49 years in plumbing. He was a member of the Rayville Christian Union Church. Cecil loved his country home that he built from the ground up. He was a very kind man and seldom got mad.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rayville Christian Union Church.  He was friendly and saw the good in people.  He loved his family and worked hard to provide for them.  He enjoyed traveling and ice cream.

Visitation is 5 to 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 15, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Memorial services follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Inurnment is 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, at Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery, where military honors will be provided by the Ray County Veterans.  Online condolences may be left at www.thurmanfuneralhome.com.
