Helen Louise Wehmeir

Helen Louise Wehmeir, 95, of Richmond, was promoted to glory on Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Liberty Hospital, Liberty.

Helen was born April 19, 1921, in Hardin, the daughter of Jacob Luther and Elsie Mae (Minnick) Van Pelt.  She was united in marriage to Lester Benton Wehmeir, of Tipton, Dec. 6, 1947. He preceded her in death on July 23, 1984.

Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Venita Wehmeir, of Fredericksburg, Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Larry Foster, of Richmond; six grandchildren, Bridget Brightwell (Aaron), Tiffany Shroyer (Thomas), David Wehmeir, Zane Wehmeir, Tina Wehmeir, and Dennis Wehmeir; two great grandchildren,  Abigail Brightwell, Austin O’Brien; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Paul David Wehmeir and Jerald Wayne Wehmeir; and one sister, Dorothy Mae White.

Helen was a housewife and homemaker.  She lived in the Richmond area most of her life.  She was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.  She loved her family, gardening, being with friends and she loved to laugh.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Helen Louise Wehmeir memorial fund.

Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, March 31, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Funeral services follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral.  Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, northeast of Richmond.  Online condolences may be left at
