As the April municipal election approaches, candidates responded to questionnaires from the Richmond News. Three seats are open on the Richmond school board as incumbents are stepping down. Candidates: Felicia Farabee, Jason Morrill, Jonathon Renfro, Mike Summers, Penny Vandiver answered the following questions in our Tuesday, March 21, 2017 edition:

Why do you want to serve as a board member?

Why do you feel qualified as a board member?

Renovation plans for the Dear Elementary School playground are proceeding.  What other renovations do you think are necessary for the facility – the district’s oldest schoolhouse – and why?

The district explored money-saving strategies during a recent board meeting, mostly through reducing utility costs.  Are there additional money-
saving strategies you think the district should consider? If so, what strategies and why?  If not, why not?
