Dallas Lloyd ‘Tex’ Anderson

Dallas Lloyd “Tex” Anderson, 88, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at Oak Pointe Assisted Living in Richmond after a short illness.

He was born in Wabasso, Minn., Dec. 19, 1927, to Emil Anderson and Eva (Overmeyer) Anderson. He attended public schools in Wabasso and Redwood Falls, Minn., and enlisted in the Navy in 1946, serving as a radar technician on the USS Harwood. Following his service, he attended the University of Minnesota and Park College in Parkville, where he met his future wife, Benice Creede. They were married Sept. 8, 1951.

Dallas was a salesman for Nabisco for 38 years, retiring in 1988. He was active with the Boy Scouts, taking trips to Philmont Scout Reservation in New Mexico and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in northern Minnesota and Canada. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Richmond and a Shriner for 59 years. He and Bensie were world travelers, taking trips to Europe, China, Africa, the Pacific Islands and throughout most of the United States. He was an avid hunter, primarily of turkeys and deer on his farm north of Richmond, and he was a lifetime member of the NRA. Later in life, he developed a love of baking, producing delicious pastries, cookies and bread.

Dallas was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Betty and his wife Bensie.

Survivors include: his son Eric Anderson and daughter in-law, Rae; daughter Carol Anderson and grandson Derek Fancher; sister Nelda Simning and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Salvation Army and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Visitation is 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, Nov. 25, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Memorial services follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.  Inurnment will be at a later date.  Online condolences may be left to the family at
