Bishop wins western commissioner race

Voters elected Republican Jerry Bishop to serve as Ray County Western Commissioner, ousting incumbent Democrat Mike Twyman.

Bishop tallied 3,257 votes, or 55.73 percent, compared to Twyman’s 2,578 votes, or 44.11 percent.

“(I’m) just excited,” said Bishop, a businessman from Excelsior Springs.
