Mary ‘Kathleen’ Gaulden

Mary “Kathleen” Gaulden, 93, of Richmond, died Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Richmond.

Kathleen was born Jan. 11, 1923, in Rayville, to William and Lora (McGaugh) Loyd. She married James Wesley Gaulden, of Polo, Feb. 23, 1949. He preceded her in death March 18, 1995.

Survivors include: one grandson, John Sanders and his wife, Kristy, of Kansas City, Mo.; one great-grandson, Jasyn Sanders; and one sister-in-law, Norma Loyd.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kathleen was preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Kay Sanders; one brother, Emil Loyd; one great-grandson, Justyn Sanders; and one son-in-law, Louis John “L.J” Sanders.

Kathleen graduated from Lawson High School. She was a housekeeper and homemaker. Kathleen lived in Ray County most of her life. Kathleen was known for her big smile and loved to be a socialite. She also enjoyed working at Ray County Senior Center. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Richmond.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mary Kathleen Gaulden memorial fund.

Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m., Monday, Oct. 24, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial is in Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery.
