The Lady Spartan tennis team dropped a 2-7 MRVC East home match to Carrollton Monday at Maurice Roberts Park, but coach Duane Bastob really liked the play of his No. 2 doubles team.

The duo of Lydia Russell and Ayrin McBee grabbed one of the two Richmond victories as they came from behind against Carrollton’s Gabriella Thorne and Cierra Sweeney. The Lady Spartans fought back to force a tiebreaker and then prevailing 7-5 to win the match 9-8.

“Lydia and Ayria’s doubles match will probably go down as our best match of the year,” Bastob said.
