Area man resists arrest at RCMH

A Richmond man is charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer at Ray County Memorial Hospital on Friday, Aug. 26.

Fred Allen Smith II, 30, attempted to leave the hospital even though hospital staff told him that he needed to stay, according to a probable cause statement filed by Richmond Ptl. James Bush.

Hospital staff believed Smith posed a threat to himself or others, according to the statement. Smith was being held at the hospital for a mental evaluation, the statement said.
