Threat hastens security upgrades at courthouse

Because of a threat to Ray County Courthouse personnel, the county commission is hastening plans to enhance security at the 100-year-old building.

The commissioners and Sheriff Garry Bush outlined those plans – including locked outer doors, panic bars, a new metal detector and an on-duty deputy – late last week.

“It’s hard to accept,” said Eastern Commissioner Allen Dale, “but unfortunately, that’s the way the world is now.”
