Fred Jewel ‘Buddy’ Taber III

Fred Jewel “Buddy” Taber III, 64, of Richmond, died Thursday, Aug. 4, 2016, at NorthCare Hospice House, North Kansas City, Mo.

Buddy was born June 13, 1952, in Lexington, to Fred Jewel and Margie Maxine (Simmerman) Taber Jr. He married Rhonda Fay Russell, of Richmond, February 12, 1972; she survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: one son, Jason Taber, and his significant other, Cheryl Curtis, of Lawson; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Angela and Erik Osborn, of Jefferson City and Jocelyn and Matt Hollingsworth, of Richmond; one brother and sister-in law, Frankie and Debbi Taber, of Branson; one sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Tim Rechterman, of Higginsville; 10 grandchildren, Thomas Luman, Kaylla Osborn, Kaytlin Osborn, Tyler Wallace, Darian Wallace, Olivia Taber, Lindsay Taber, Hopper Hollingsworth, Matson Hollingsworth and Lena Hollingsworth and one great-grandchild, Skiler Luman.

Buddy was a United States Air Force veteran and served his country from 1971 to 1975 from Whiteman Air Force Base. He worked at General Motors in Fairfax for 30 years before retiring in 2006. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 31 in Kansas City, Kan. He also worked at Walmart in the photo shop for 10 years in Richmond. He was a former deacon of Henrietta Baptist Church. Buddy was a member of Richmond First Baptist Church. He lived in Henrietta before moving to Richmond in 1974. Buddy was on the board of directors at Taber Products, Inc. in Henrietta.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to NorthCare Hospice House, North Kansas City, Mo., or to K.U. Cancer Clinic, North Kansas City.

Visitation is 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 9, at Richmond First Baptist Church.    Funeral services follow at 11 a.m. at the church. Ray County Veterans will provide military honors. Inurnment will be at a later date at Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences maybe left at
