Bonnie Kay Lewis

Bonnie Kay Lewis, 76, of Richmond died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at North Kansas City Hospital.

Bonnie was born Jan. 23, 1940, in Richmond, the daughter of Samuel J. and Geneva (McGinnis) Burton.  She married James E. Lewis, of Ethel, June 29, 1958; he survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: two sons, Michael Lewis and his wife, Christine, of Liberty, and Mitchell Lewis and his wife, Cathy, of Kearney; one daughter, Michele Lewis, of Richmond; one sister Vicki Burton-Schmalz and her husband, Royce Schmalz, of Springfield, Va.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Bobbie Glavin.

Bonnie was a homemaker.  Bonnie also worked outside the home at Cracker Barrel in Independence and McDonald’s in Richmond. Bonnie held various other jobs over the years and was a hard worker who didn’t like sitting down.  Bonnie was an active member of her church, the Richmond Assembly of God, serving as church secretary, Sunday School teacher, and custodian.  She was a former member of the Sweet Adeline’s.

The family suggests memorial contributions in memory of Bonnie be made to Richmond Beautification Fund.

Visitation is 4 to 5 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 18, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Memorial services follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
