How’s this for love?

Christie Nguyen is a nail technician, and her husband, Chris H., followed her into the profession.

“I like her and wanted to be around her all the time so I took up the same career as her,” he said.

Chris H., who uses just a last initial to identify himself, and Christie opened iNails & Spa last month on the Richmond Square. Tom Luu works with them as a nail technician.

It was Christie who came up with the salon’s name. She likes infinity symbols but the word “infinity” was too long to be part of a shop name, Chris said. So they shortened it to “i” and made it lower case like so many popular tech devices these days.

“It just stuck,” Chris said. “Everybody likes it.”

Chris and Christie came to Richmond after working at a salon about a 30-minute drive from town. A Richmond resident who patronizes that shop told them Richmond would be a good place to open a salon. They decided to investigate, because they wanted to work for themselves.

“Worry about our own future,” Chris said.

They looked at the population numbers and agreed with their Richmond friend, even though other salons offer nail services in Richmond.
