Tennis season ends for RHS in district doubles, singles

After having the team eliminated from district competition earlier in the week, the Richmond singles and doubles players had one last shot to continue their seasons Saturday at Excelsior Springs.

Coach Julie Baker saw a few good signs from her young squad despite the adverse conditions.

“We again had a chilly, windy day,” she said. “Playing in sweats, gloves and hats is not the ideal situation for tennis. I thought we did a good job today.”

Brandon Hendricks won his singles opener with a 7-6, 1-6, 6-0 decision over Luke Jenkins of Carrollton. However, he fell to Seth Forstner of Excelsior Springs in the second round 1-6, 2-6.
