The only way to God is through Jesus Christ

By Chaplain Mike Bliss, Ray County Jail Chaplain

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'” – John 14:6

BLISS-MIKE-NEW-0416A euphemism is the hidden narrative that some people use as a tool to wrangle a sense of “it’s ok to believe this type of platitude,” such as attaining nirvana.    Nirvana means that if you have something worldly in you, nirvana has not been reached, and you must empty yourself of all outside interference before you can achieve the ultimate of nothingness.  That of course is what we all want, right?  Complete nothingness.  Try as you might to find your way to that kind of consciousness is hardly worth all the effort in lieu of being completely and eternally in void, or nothingness.

As Christians – followers of Christ Jesus – we must believe and want the presence of Him in order to communicate with our creator God and Father.  It’s not enough to just know of Him or accept Him as a good man, prophet, teacher or spiritual leader in order to keep from being empty.  Deep down inside we all feel the need for something to do, and to feel proud of, as well as goals that are achievable.  The absence of God given virtues truly make us feel empty.  Feeling wanted, loved and welcome brings us closer together but how do we get there when the world puts a price on everything we do and we can’t make the mark?  That question reaches deeper into our souls than that which man can offer an answer.  The only solution is to turn to Christ Jesus knowing that this is a sinful world and He can help us navigate through and avoid most of the pain.

We know that there is suffering, and it’s an eternal sentence for those who reject Christ Jesus as God.  We know that Christ Jesus created us and all that is, or was, or ever will be (Hebrews 1).  We know that the only way to reach that level of spiritual separation from the world and bring us into the very presence of God the Father/Christ Jesus is to become righteous.  Simply put being righteous is being born again and being unrighteous is not being born again.  It says so in the Bible. The price of peace for us has been paid in full by His blood already and all we need to do is accept Him as our savior and let Him guide us for the rest of our days on earth.

We cannot even talk to God without being born again.  If you don’t believe that, read John 14:6.  Christ Jesus says that no man comes to the Father but by Me.  That includes you.  What does that mean?  It means that if you’re not born again you cannot access the Father.

Christ Jesus made it more than clear stating, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.” It is the only access to God the Father.  That means you can pray all you want, but unless you are born again and become righteous, God the Father cannot be reached because He only hears prayers by way of His Son who Himself is God.

So, if you don’t believe that God means business when He says that He only hears the prayers of the righteous, then you do not understand what he means at all.  Plain and in your face becomes difficult for some people to listen to and the more it is denied, the harder it becomes.  The first step in a 12-step recovery program is coming to grips with your denial.

Beware of the tweakers of God’s word.  They manipulate the most sacred of His admonishments to us by changing, or rearranging, the holy word of Christ Jesus, to satisfy the unwillingness planted into us by Satan.  They do this in an effort to keep us from surrendering our souls to God so we can become righteous/born again and speak to the Father through His only son Christ Jesus.  Don’t fall for it. Don’t listen to those that say things like “Thank the Lord Jesus for conquering death and showing us the way, the truth and the life.”  They are short-changing what Christ Jesus said.  He died and was raised from the dead as a sacrifice for us by His Father God.  He was, is and will always be the only way to the Father as He said himself.

Listen to the words of Christ Jesus, but be careful not to get taken by the crafty twisting of meanings and mis-directed thinking of the many money launderers who would trade your soul for a buck or two just to sell you a cheap and unusable quote or two.  The blueprint of life starts with the study, understanding and application of God’s pure word and He warns us not to change it.  Don’t be fooled into thinking otherwise.  I am not a righteous man. I’m a sinner, but His blood saved me and made my soul righteous.   Accept the free gift of life eternal offered to you by your creator, by asking Christ Jesus to forgive your sins and teach you His will.  He’s always waiting for you to open the door of your heart and let Him in.
