Richmond Lady Spartans did not get out of the gate as quick as they would have liked Friday night, but once they found their stride they took another step toward repeating as MRVC East champs. Richmond got both offense and defense going in the second half as the Lady Spartans defeated visiting Holden 45-27 and improved to 6-0 in league play. Richmond (18-2) handed second-place Holden its second conference loss of the campaign.

Richmond junior Kaylee Vantrump became just the second Lady Spartan to reach the 1,000-career point milestone. Vantrump, who scored a game-high 16 points, didn’t realize she had reached that mark.
