Jacob Wayne Minnick

Jacob Wayne Minnick, 88, of Richmond, formerly of Hardin, died Monday, Feb. 08, 2016, at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Mo.

Wayne was born April 27, 1927, near Hardin, to Joseph Gilbert and Ida Florence (Bowman) Minnick. He married Mary Etta Dye, of Knoxville, April 28, 1951. They would have been married 65 years in April. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, David W. and Harriet Minnick, of Richmond; one daughter, Kathy Ann Smith, of Lexington and her fiancé, Mike Pearson of Hardin; one sister, Joan Miller, of Carrollton; and four grandchildren, Marie Tyrrell and her fiancé, Jeremy Willbanks, Megan Minnick, Amanda (Minnick) Amdur and her husband, Chris and Bradley Smith; and one great-grandson, Dylan Amdur.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Jacob Willbanks.

Wayne was a lifelong farmer. He was a 4-H Wood Working Leader for several years. He was a member of the M.F.A. advisory board. He was a member of Hardin Baptist Church and was a Sunday School director for more than 10 years. Wayne lived in the Hardin area most of his life.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hardin Baptist Church.

Visitation is 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 11, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Funeral services follow at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home. Burial will be in Wakenda Cemetery north of Hardin. Online condolences may be left at
