Mother stands by son who attacked her; he receives 10-year prison sentence

A Richmond man who struck his mother with a sledgehammer was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison despite the victim’s testimony in his behalf.

According to police, Michael Dorton was under the influence of drugs and alcohol at the time of the January 2013 attack, which left Stephanie Bryant in intensive care with a head injury.
