A pre-Christmas gift brought the Orrick Parks Project $8,000 closer to its goal.

Orrick Farm Service owner Gary Vandiver presented a check for that amount to Karla Waters and Mayor Cindy Lampton, who represented the park fundraising committee.

“This will put us over $70,000,” said Lampton.

The figure is around $30,000 shy of the goal the committee hopes to reach before May 7, 2016, the scheduled date for installing playground equipment and other park amenities.

The complete story is in the Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016 Richmond News.
