Karen P. (Gordon) Elliott

Karen P. (Gordon) Elliott, 70, of Richmond, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, Mo.

Karen was born Aug. 4, 1945, in Lexington, to Ewell and Irna (Burns) Gordon. She married Douglas O. Elliott of Richmond.

Survivors include: her husband, Doug Elliott, of Carson City, Nev.; one son, Gerald Montez Elliott, of Higginsville; one stepson, Nevin Elliott, of Carson City, Nev.; Ewell E. Gordon, III, of Columbia, S.C., a nephew who she helped raised as a son; one daughter, Shawnda Elliott, of Liberty; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, William F. and Dr. Andrea Gordon, of Webster Groves and Dennis and Tammy Danner, of Blue Springs; one sister, Ewelleen Gordon Elliott, of Richmond; four grandchildren, Aaron Scott Elliott, Aerial S. Elliott, Da’Ron Elliott Jenkins and Wayne Jenkins, II; two great-grandchildren, Amir Allen and Santierra Taylor; three sisters-in-law, Neomi Burns, Linda Gordon and Raylene Gordon; one aunt, Leah Richie, of Lexington; and a special cousin, Florence Wilkins of Richmond.

In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by one son, Kurt Allen Gordon; and four brothers, Donald, Ewell “Jitterbug”, and recently, Gerald and Montrose.

Karen was a 1963 graduate of Lexington High School. She was a homemaker. She worked at the Higginsville Habilitation Center for several years. She also worked at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. Karen was a member of St. John’s CME Church in Richmond. She lived in Richmond since 1967.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Karen (Gordon) Elliott Memorial Fund.

Visitation is 1 to 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 8, at St. John’s CME Church, Richmond. Funeral services follow at 2 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery. Online condolences may be left at
