Kenneth Ray “Preach” Karl


Kenneth Ray “Preach” Karl, 92 of Richmond, died Friday, July 10, 2015, at his home.

Preach was born Sept. 21, 1922, in Orrick, to Ray Leslie and Elizabeth (Vinyard) Karl. He married Pauline Evans, of Richmond, Aug. 1, 1953; she survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Wayne and Randi Karl, of Belton; three grandchildren, Mike Karl and his fiancé’, Katy, Robert Karl and his wife, Tracy, and Brandon Karl and his wife, Misty; five great-grandchildren, Kayla and Robert Nibarger, Brodie Karl, Tucker Karl, Kayleigh Karl and Michaela Karl; three great-great-grandchildren, Cayden Nibarger, Blaine Nibarger and Hadley Nibarger; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Vaughn and Millie Evans.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Burns and Helen Jeffries Mullikin; and two brothers, Donald “Dick” Karl and Vernon Keith Karl

Preach was an assembler at the General Motors Leed’s Plant in Kansas City for 31 years, retiring in 1988. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII. He was a life member of Richmond VFW Post 4398 and Richmond American Legion Post 237. He was of the Christian faith. Preach lived most of his life in Richmond.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the VFW Post 4398.

Visitation was 7 to 8 p.m., Monday, July 13, at Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond. Funeral services were 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, July 14, at the funeral home. Burial was in Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery, with military graveside services provided by Ray County Veterans. Online condolences may be left at
