Doras Evelyn Butkovich

Doras Evelyn Butkovich, 84 of Independence, formerly of Sugar Creek, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.

Doras was born October 11, 1930 in St. Joe, Ark. to William and Gertrude (Maul) Crabtree. She had worked as a retail manager for The House of Sleep bedding company in Independence for many years before her retirement.  She was of the Catholic faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Gertrude Crabtree; a daughter, Marietta Tjaden; a son, Joseph Butkovich; and a sister, Mary Lou Watts.

Doras is survived by two sons, Peter Butkovich of Richmond, and Thomas Butkkovich of Sugar Creek; and a brother, Thomas Crabtree of Boston, Mass.  Also surviving are eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be given to the charity of the donor’s choice in her memory.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 6, at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence, with Father James Taranto officiating.

Arrangements are under Gowing Funeral Home, Orrick.
