Donald W. Vantrump

Donald W. Vantrump, 80, of Norborne, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Centerpoint Hospital in Independence.

Donald was born Sept. 19, 1934, to Ralph Edward and Mary Martha (Summers) Vantrump in Norborne. On April 4, 1954, Donald married the love of his life, Patricia A. Wagner in Norborne. To this union, they were blessed with four beautiful daughters, Cynthia, Kathy, Kim and Kay.

Donald graduated from Norborne High School in 1952. Following high school, Donald pursued agriculture. He loved farming, especially working with cattle and hogs. Donald was also a county commissioner for the Western District for 12 years, where he was very instrumental in the restoration of the courthouse. It was a job he enjoyed and took very seriously. He served on many committees throughout his life: University Extension Board, Prairie Township Board, Water District Board, F.H.A. Board, Norborne Feed Service Board and Norborne School Board, where he presided several times as president. Donald and Pat were named the 2010 SWCD Farm Family of the year. He was the 2005 Carroll County Fair grand marshal and the 2013 Soybean King. Donald was a member of the First Baptist Church in Norborne. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends of the Carroll County community.

Donald is survived by his loving wife, Pat, of 61 years, three daughters; Kathy Lake and husband, Brett, of Norborne, Kim McMullin of Mission, Kan. and Donna Kay Lichte and husband, Charlie, of Norborne; one sister, Virginia Deitch of Carrollton; one brother, Jack Vantrump and wife, Glenda, of Carrollton; four grandchildren, Casey Lester and husband, Jimmy, of Norborne, Susan Creason and husband, Billy, of Keytesville, Annie Heins of Norborne and Jacob McMullin and wife, Sarah, of Odessa; eight great-grandchildren, Sevin, Maddi, Rylei, Rynna, Cyrus, Camdyn, Emma and Luke.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Cynthia Sue Vantrump and one granddaughter, Amy Katherine Heins.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, April 11, at Bittiker Funeral Home, Carrollton. Funeral Services are 2 p.m., Sunday, April 12, at the First Baptist Church, Norborne, with Brother Bob Allen and Reverend Martin Brooke officiating. Burial is in Fairhaven Cemetery, Norborne.
