Candidate filings open for April 7 election

By JoEllen Black-Richmond News Publisher

Candidacy filings for April 2015 elections opened Tuesday, a day Ray County election clerk Rebecca Adams described as “very busy.”

The county clerk’s office handles candidate filings for all special road districts, Ray County Memorial Hospital and the county’s health department board of directors.

Incumbents in county-wide races are the only ones to file, so far. Mike Shane has filed for a five-year term on the hospital board. Ivan Hogan and Rupert Brown have both filed for board seats they now hold on Ray County Health Department. Incumbents Jerry Smith has filed for the open seat on Camden Special Road District, as have incumbent Richard Turner for Orrick Special Road District and Rick Bersano for Richmond Special Road District.

Ray County-area school boards each have two board positions that’ll expire in April.

Below is a list of positions open for election.
