For the third consecutive year, the Richmond Lady Spartans finished second at the district golf tournament. The Lady Spartans continued their solid play Monday at the Class 1, District 6 tournament held at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Lawson with all five golfers finishing in the top 15.

Richmond shot 351 to finish as the runner-up behind Pembroke Hill’s low total of 320. Smithville placed third with 359.

The top two teams, along with the low 15 scores not on those teams advance to Monday’s sectional round that will be played at Smithville.

Pembroke Hill had the two low individual rounds for the afternoon with India Gaume earning district medalist honors with a 4-under par 68 (36-32). Her teammate Shannon Fang carded a 75 (39-36). Richmond’s Makenzi Turley had her low 18-hole total for the season with an 83 (42-42) to place fifth, with Becca Westbrook shooting an 85 (44-41) to finish in seventh. Maddy Zeller and Breann Mathis finished 10th and 11th with Zeller shooting 91 (44-47) and Mathis coming in with a 92 (46-46).
