Program organized for grandparents faced with raising grandchildren

With a growing number of grandparents raising their children’s children, two Ray County organizations will partner in a new Grandparents Gathering Workshop/Support Group.
Michelle Zwiers, outreach specialist for the Missouri Valley Community Action Agency, said her organization and the University of Missouri Extension will co-host the workshop/support group.
“If you are one of the many who have found themselves raising the next generation, we invite you to come and join us,” Zwiers said.
The first session will be Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to noon. Sessions will continue monthly at Ray County Health Department, 820 E. Lexington St. in Richmond.
Participants will discuss a variety of GrandFamily topics, Zwiers said.
The program is free. Child care will not be available, so attendance is for adults only.
