RHS competition squad has reason to be cheered

The 10 girls who make up Richmond High School’s Competition Cheer Squad practice for three hours most days between May and July, sponsor Betsy Marshall told the school board Sept. 9.
The work seems to have paid off.

The group won its first summer competition in July. The MCCA-KC Regional Competition is one of five qualifiers for state competition held across the state.
Richmond’s competition team placed first in the 2A/Small Division. The win qualified the girls to move on to tate competition  at the Hearnes Center in Columbia Oct. 5.
Marshall said she recently presented plaques to members of the squad. In addition to the regional championship plaque, they received a Leadership Award that was presented to them at their UCA Cheer Camp his summer.
Marshall said that at Camp the girls also wona  trophy for being judged a Superior Squad, as well as three Superior Ribbons for routines and sideline chants.
