Netters get gritty in first victory

The Lady Spartans took two of three doubles matches and split in the six singles contests to record their first tennis victory of the season over visiting Cameron Thursday afternoon.

“It was a great performance to win a gritty match against a good opponent,” RHS tennis coach Duane Bastob said. “The two doubles wins were the key to success as they were both good matches and tough to win.”

Cora List and Emily Harris battled to a 9-7 win in the No. 1 doubles match, with Kalynn Persell and Bre Miller picking up an 8-6 decision in No. 2 doubles.

“Cora and Emily played as well together as I thought they could,” Bastob said. “The net play by Bre and Kalynn was exceptional.”
