Crop Progress and Condition
The state received much needed rain with an average of 1.56 inches statewide. There were 4.9 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending Sept. 7.
Statewide, temperatures averaged 75 degrees, which is 1.8 degrees above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 19 percent short, 69 percent adequate and 9 percent surplus.
Subsoil moisture supply was rated 4 percent very short, 29 percent short, 62 percent adequate, and 5 percent surplus.
Corn dented progressed to 90 percent. Corn mature reached 36 percent, 12 percentage points ahead of last year. Corn condition was rated 84 percent good to excellent.
Soybeans dropping leaves progressed to 9 percent. Soybean condition was rated 73 percent good to excellent.
Cotton bolls opening progressed to 22 percent.
Rice harvested progressed to 5 percent.
Pasture condition was rated 4 percent very poor, rated 13 percent poor, 42 percent fair, 32 percent good and 9 percent excellent.
