Jo’s Jottings: ‘Triple Divot’ tourney reason again to laud golf course’s impact

By Jo Ellen Dale

Vacation bible school was being held at United Christian Presbyterian Church with the theme “Son Hawaiian Island”.  Going into the church is like entering an island complete with palm trees, bamboo sheds, parrots peeking at you from the palms or other plants and even table cloths, napkins etc. with photos of pirate ships.  I was told that 50 or 60 youngsters attend every day.
Last Tuesday, Richmond Kiwanis Club held meetings at noon and in the evening.  Speaker for the noon meeting was Rep. Joe Don McGaugh, who brought handouts concerning bills introduced and passed.  The attendance at the evening meeting was slightly better and I urge anyone to take advantage of both.  We welcome new members any time.  Kiwanis is all about “saving the world, one child at a time”.  At the evening meeting there was no program as such, but we discussed several coming events such as the Bill George Tournament.
