Tornado damage ends school year at Orrick R-XI

Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education granted Orrick School District to end its school year Monday, due to the major damage to its facility. The district was to be in session for two more weeks.

“We regret that we are unable to finish the 2013-14 school year with our students,” Superintendent Aerin O’Dell said on Orrick’s district Web site.
Initial assessments include roof damage to the school’s gymnasium, elementary classrooms and ag shop.
Orrick band will practice at Richmond Middle School May 15 in preparation for senior graduation Sunday, May 18, at Excelsior Springs High School Performing Arts Center.
