Spartan golfers drop 18-hole dual at Loch Lloyd

By Russ Green-Sports Editor

Although the Spartan golfers lost in a rare 18-hole dual Thursday afternoon to Barstow, coach Murray Dennis said it was a good experience for his team. Richmond shot 369 Thursday at the Loch Lloyd Country Club, while host Barstow combined for a 345 on the course where the Senior PGA Tour played on its Kansas City stops.

Dennis was pleased with how his team fared on a tough course.

“The wind was also a factor, along with the layout of the course and the size, undulations, and speed of the greens,” he said. “It was a great experience for us and gave us a chance to play on a course that has hosted Senior PGA Tour events, that doesn’t happen very often during a season.”

Barstow’s Cody Adkins was the medalist for the afternoon as he shot a 10-over par, 82 (41-41).
