JV netmen gain court time at tourney

Junior varsity tennis players picked up some valuable expierence Wednesday afternoon at the Excelsior Springs JV tournament. The Spartans tied Fort Osage and Odessa for sixth place in the eight-team event. Liberty North took first, followed by Kearney, Excelsior Springs, Winnetonka and William Chrisman.

“We got a lot of play in,” Richmond coach Julie Baker said. “It was frustrating because we keep making the same errors. I hope today fixed some of those.”

Austin Crossland won two of his three pool matches in No. 2 singles. He won his first two matches – 6-3 over Marques of William Chrisman and 6-3 over Dickmeier of Odessa. However, he dropped his last two of the day to Davis of Liberty North, 1-6, and to Rogers of Excelsior Springs by a 5-7 final to finish in fourth place.
