Four Richmond Lady Spartans and two Spartans earned post-season recognition from MRVC East basketball coaches in all-conference voting for the 2013-14 campaign.

Senior Reid Summers was the top vote collector in balloting by league coaches and was the only Spartan to earn first-team honors, with his junior teammate Quinton Maxwell earning honorable mention.

The Spartans placed third in the conference race behind Higginsville and runner-up Knob Noster.

The Richmond Lady Spartans had their best-season ever – finishing with a school-record 18 wins, while also earning runner-up honors with a 7-3 mark. The Lady Spartans had one first-team honoree, two second-team players and one honorable mention. Freshman Kaylee Vantrump was named first team, with sophomores Madison Cole and Miya O’Dell selected second team, and Jenny Simpson, a senior, receiving honorable mention.

Summers ended his outstanding four-year career by re-writing almost every Spartan scoring record. He averaged 27.8 points a game, along with 7 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. He set the state record with 399 3-point buckets for his career and also holds the RHS mark with 2,027 points, and career free throw shooting by hitting 84 percent from the stripe.

Maxwell patrolled the inside for the Spartans this season. He averaged 10.1 points a game, in addition to pulling down 8.1 rebounds a contest. Maxwell shot 55 percent from the field this season.
