Hardin OKs pay raises for clerk, police chief after long void

By Shawn Roney/For The Richmond News

On Tuesday night, Hardin made some preparations for the April 8 elections.

That night, in one of a handful of unanimously-approved motions, the Board of Aldermen voted 4-0 during its monthly meeting to approve Ordinance No. 693. Read as Bill No. 14-1, the ordinance approved the election of “two alderman at large (sic)” seats.

Colin Chang and Peggy Elewee’s board seats are up for election next month. Both are running unopposed, they said afterward.

Other business covered Tuesday included the following:

• The board approved pay raises for City Clerk Patty Lam and Police Chief Ted Kuhlman. Lam and Kuhlman hadn’t “seen any pay increase here in the last seven to eight years – or six at least,” Chang estimated.
