50 area businesses to showcase goods and services Saturday at Expo

Businesses from health services to banking to retail – and throw in some new cars, lawn mowers and sheds – will be showcased Saturday, March 15, at the second annual Richmond Area Business Expo. The free event is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Richmond Middle School, 715 S. Wellington St.

Richmond chambers will hand out goodie bags at the door – likely needed – to hold all the free stuff that many businesses plan to hand out. Many businesses, like Pointer’s Jewelers, will have raffles at their booths, too. Pointer’s will raffle a pair of emerald earrings, co-owner T.J. Strum said, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

Over $1,400 in door prizes will be given away every 30 minutes and with a special drawing. Expo-goers will be given a brochure with a “punch card” of each participating business’ name. Go to each booth to fill out the card to enter a drawing for a computer tablet by Park University, a free eye exam and one-year of contact lenses by Insight EyeCare, $100 gas card by Shirkey Nursing and Shirkey Hospice and $100 cash by The Richmond News. Outdoor displays will be provided by Premiers Barns, Swafford’s Ford, AG Power, along with a bounce house for kids by the National Guard and ambulance tours by Ray County Ambulance.

And in Ray County fashion, there will be plenty of eats, too. Biscuits and gravy will be available beginning at 9 a.m. by Richmond Education Foundation, and grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, with chips and drinks will available for lunch by Richmond Masonic Lodge.
