Richmond R-XVI superintendent accepts position at Kirksville

By David Knopf/Richmond News

Kirksville Public Schools announced Wednesday morning that Dr. Damon Kizzire, Richmond’s current superintendent, had been hired to replace Patrick Williams, Kirksville’s superintendent for more than 30 years.

The hiring came the morning after Richmond School Board voted 6-0 in closed session to release Kizzire from the final year of a contract that ran to June 30, 2015.

Kizzire said Tuesday night that he would finish out the current school year in Richmond, but declined to discuss his next move.

The Kirksville Daily Express reported the hiring in its Wednesday edition. The newspaper said Kizzire would begin with his new district this summer and quoted from the school board’s press release.
