Big lead boosts Lady Bearcats to ninth win

By Russ Green-Sports Editor

It didn’t take the Orrick Lady Bearcats long to grab control of their opening round game of the Braymer Invitational Tuesday night. Orrick, the No. 1 seed for the week, jumped out to a 32-4 lead after 8 minutes and then rolled to a 76-21 win over Wentworth Military Academy.

The win pushes Orrick to 9-1 for the season and a meeting with Southwest Livingston County in tonight’s 7 p.m. semifinal.

Orrick hit 65 percent of its 55 field goal attempts Tuesday night, while the defense came up with 17 steals.

Every Lady Bearcat who suited up got some floor time with 11 of the 13 entering the scoring column. Madison Endsley led the way with 18 points, while Sydnee McGlothlin was 5 for 5 from the field and hit her only free throw attempt on her way to an 11-point effort.
